Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that can cause serious illnesses such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Acute Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV) from the common cold. Novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a new species not previously recognized in humans.
